17 yrs RI, Rs one lakh fine for harassing girl

Kottayam: A fast track court here awarded 17
years rigorous imprisonment to a youth and imposed a fine of
Rs one lakh on him for cheating a girl under the pretext of
marrying her and later harassing her.
According to prosecution, Arun (26) of Aarpookara
forcefully entered the house of the 15-year-old girl at
Gandhinagar and harassed her between May 22 and August 14,
2007.

Out of the amount, Arun has to pay Rs 50,000 to the girl.
If he fails to pay the fine he has to undergo one more year
imprisonment, the judge said.
Police registered a case against him for entering the
house of the girl and attacking her parents and threatening
her during the court process.
