Kolkata: Mumbai Indians` explosive batsman Dwayne Smith lamented on Thursday, that he has squandered many a good starts but vowed to make it count against Rajasthan Royals in the IPL Qualifier 2, here on Friday.
"Yes, it`s frustrating. I`ve got a five or six starts, three fifties but did not carry on by getting out to careless shots," Smith said of his 28-ball 68 against Chennai Super Kings in the previous match. "But I`ve this on back of my mind. We take every game as it comes. Just look forward and don`t look back." Chasing 193, Mumbai had a flying start with Smith`s quick-fire half-century but things changed as they choked under pressure, suffering a 48-run loss which meant they need to a win against Rajasthan for a place in the final. The West Indian however said there was no added pressure on them despite coming here on back of a loss compared to Rajasthan Royals who won against Sunrisers Hyderabad in the Eliminator yesterday. Smith said it was just any other match as they would look to go out there and perform in the game. "It`s just about going there and feeling confident. No added pressure. All of us want to get into the final. There will be equal pressure on the opponents as they would have to beat us to be in the final. "We have beaten them once and they have also beaten us. We will go there and do our best. Cricket is a funny game. We just stumbled and fell short. I`m sure the other guys will correct that in this game," he said. Asked how crucial is the role of skipper Rohit Sharma in their scheme of things, he said, "Everyone will have a serious role tomorrow. We just can`t single out anyone. If he makes 50 and the rest don`t make 10 then what`s going to happen? Everyone has to put in the work." With Mumbai boasting a disciplined bowling unit, Smith said they would need to put up yet another tidy show. "The fielders will have to help the bowlers too. It is very important to come and bowl well tomorrow as we`ve done through out the the tournament." Asked about the mood in their camp after their loss to CSK, Smith said, "We know we had another game. It`s just for us to go out there and correct our mistakes. I`m sure the guys know what we have to do." Mumbai Indians are yet to win the IPL and Smith said, "I`m sure if we don`t discuss it people talk about it. As I said T20 is a funny game, it can turn within one or two balls. First is to stay confident and we can do it." The winners of tomorrow`s match will face Chennai Super Kings in the Sunday summit showdown. PTI
