Residents of Ahmedabad organised a prayer meet to pay their respects to the victims of Nepal earthquake.

Ahmedabad: Residents of Ahmedabad organised a prayer meet to pay their respects to the victims of Nepal earthquake.

"We have also suffered through an earthquake in 2001 here in India. We have organised this program to pray for the victims of this tragedy. We want the people of Nepal to know that we are with them," Ashish, an organiser, told ANI.

Over 2,500 people have died and over 5,000 have been injured in the earthquake which struck Nepal on Saturday. Rescue operations have been intensified in the wake of the number of deaths.

Earlier on Sunday, fresh tremors were felt across Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, West Bengal and Assam after an earthquake of 6.7 magnitude hit the east of Kathmandu.
