Gujarat Chief Minister Anandi Patel today expressed the need to have an "army" of forensic experts to tackle the challenge of cyber attacks in future.

Gandhinagar: Gujarat Chief Minister Anandi Patel today expressed the need to have an "army" of forensic experts to tackle the challenge of cyber attacks in future.

"In the present world, cyber crime has emerged as a serious threat to nation's security. In coming days, you will witness cyber attacks from one company to another and from one country to another. In such a situation, we need an army of forensic experts to thwart such attacks," Patel said here.

She was addressing the first convocation ceremony of the Gujarat Forensic Sciences University (GFSU) at its newly-built campus which was inaugurated by her.

During her speech, Patel thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for envisaging one-of-its-kind university, which offers various courses in forensic science.

"Forensic experts should always remain one step ahead of the criminals. We need to develop a system where criminals can be stopped from committing crimes. You must have knowledge about the psychology of a criminal to remain one step ahead of them," said Patel.

The CM also stressed the need to develop indigenous technology which suits the requirement of India.

"Majority of forensic technology and systems, which we apply here, were developed in Western countries as per their needs. Now, we need to develop technologies as per the needs of our country," she said.

Around 270 students received degrees and diplomas on the occasion.
