Ahmedabad: A group of riot victims on Monday offered prayers at the Gulbarg Society in Mehghaninagar area here, where former MP Ehsan Jaffery had been brutally killed during the post-Godhra violence, along with 68 others, on February 28, 2002.

Social activist Teesta Setalvad too joined them.

The people read the verses from the holy Quran and prayed for those killed on that day.

Setalvad said that she was there because the victims had asked her to come, and declined to comment on the timing of the gathering, which coincided with the conclusion of the three-day Sadbhavna fast of Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi.

One of the victims said that the prayer meet was long planned, and timing was purely coincidental.
