Bangladesh CID officials undergo training in Gujarat

Ahmedabad: A team of six top officials of Bangladesh CID, a specialised wing of police, are undertaking a 15-day long training programme at the Gujarat Forensic Science University (GFSU) in Gandhinagar near here.

"Six top officials of Bangladesh CID have embarked on a 15-day long training programme at GFSU two days back," MS Dahiya, director of Institute of Forensic Science at the university, told a news agency.

All those six officials are from different branches like chemistry, physics, narco-analysis, crime scene analysis, finger-print documents analysis and ballistics and explosive, he said.

According to him, all of them will be given an extensive training under their specialised areas.

In Bangladesh, CID is the top-ranked probe and forensic agency, which carries out investigation into offences, like terrorism, killings and other organised crimes.

Dahiya said that the probe agency of the neighbouring country had sent a proposal to GFSU to train their top officers, following which this is a second team of police officers who are being given training here.

"Bangladesh CID had sent a proposal to GFSU, following which we had conducted a training programme for a batch of 16 members around three months ago," Dahiya said.

As the earlier participants were satisfied with the training we imparted in areas of ballistics, crime scene analysis, narco-analysis, they have now sent another batch of six members, he said.

Dahiya said such exercises will continue in future as well.

Established in year 2008, the Gujarat-based premier university had earlier given training to other police officers of other SAARC countries, like Nepal.

The first batch of Bihar Anti-Terrorism Squad had also been given training at GFSU.
