Rajkot: An alleged bootlegger here committed
suicide by jumping in a river following 'harassment'
by a section of the police.
Rafiq Bloach(52) from Morbi town of the district
committed suicide by jumping in Macchu river yesterday and a
suicide note left behind by him stated that he took the
extreme step duo to 'police harassment'.
In the suicide note, Rafiq wrote that he fled after being
booked in a bootlegging incident and some five policemen who
were on the lookout for him would often visit his house and
abused his teenaged daughter, police said.
The bootlegger also alleged that the policemen had
threatened him to leave the town or else he alongwith his
son would be booked under a fake charge, police said.
No complaint has been registered against the five
policemen so far.
