Centre using all methods to ruin Gujarat: Modi

Gujarat CM Narendra Modi launched a broadside against the Congress-led UPA government.

Vadodara: Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra
Modi on Tuesday launched a broadside against the Congress-led UPA
government, saying it is using all means to "ruin and defame"
the BJP-ruled state, but has failed to stop its development
over the last 10 years.

"The Gujarat Government has carried out tremendous
development works across the state without increasing tax on
the public. My sole agenda is development," he said.
He was speaking at conclusion of his day-long `Sadbhavna`
fast at the famous temple town of Dakor, about 70 km from here
in Kheda district, this evening.

Modi has been undertaking one day district-wise
`Sadbhavna` fast since late last year to promote communal
harmony in the state.

The Centre has been using all weapons at its command
to "ruin and defame" Gujarat, but has failed to stop the
state`s rapid march on the path of development, he said.

Gujarat`s development was solely based on unity,
harmony, peace and integrity of its six crore people, he said.

On the occasion, Modi announced a development package
of Rs 900 crore for Kheda district. This amount will be spent
to build new roads, implement water supply schemes and develop
infrastructure facilities in the district.

Hundreds of people from various sections of society,
including leaders of religious communities, met the Chief
Minister during the fast. Over 11,000 people in the district
went without food for a day to show solidarity with Modi.

He also visited an exhibition which depicted Gujarat`s
all-round growth in the past decade.
