Cong wants BJP minister to apologise for his remarks

The Congress on monday demanded an apology from Gujarat minister Nitin Patel over his "unparliamentary remarks" against its MLAs in the assembly.

Gandhinagar: The Congress on monday demanded an apology from Gujarat minister Nitin Patel over his "unparliamentary remarks" against its MLAs in the assembly, an issue that led to the House being adjourned twice.
The House was adjourned after the Congress MLAs started shouting slogans against the Water Resources and Urban Development Minister`s alleged remarks during the discussion on the budget demands placed in the House by the Finance
Minister.

A point of order was raised by former state Congress president and MLA from Dabhoi constituency Siddharth Patel, demanding apology from Patel over his remarks against three Congress MLAs, which include Godhra MLA C K Raulji, MLA from Mahudha in Kheda Natavarsinh Thakore and Devji Fatehpara MLA from Halvad in Surendranagar.

Patel alleged that the BJP minister, during his speech on the budgetary provision, made personal remarks against Raulji, which were "unparliamentary" under the House rules.

He further alleged that Patel also used "derogatory language" against Thakore and Fatehpara, and therefore the minister needed to apologise to the House.

During his speech, the minister had allegedly told Raulji to "keep quite" and said that he knew about his land on the Godhra highway and how he obtained it.

About Fatehpara, Patel allegedly said that he first needs to learn to ask questions, for which, it would take him at least 10 years. In the same way, Patel used rude language against Thakore, the Congress alleged.
