Ahmedabad: Congress seemed to be staring at a complete rout in BJP prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi`s home turf of Gujarat, where trends available till noon showed BJP is leading in all 26 Lok Sabha seats.
It seems people have voted in unison to turn into reality their son-of-soil`s dream to attain the PM`s chair. Among prominent candidates, Modi himself is leading by over four lakh votes in Vadodara constituency, while BJP patriarch Advani is also ahead of his rival in his traditional Gandhinagar seat.
According to trends, Union ministers Tushar Chaudhary (Bardoli), Bharat Solanki (Anand) and Dinsha Patel (Kheda) -- all Congress -- are trailing behind their BJP rivals who have secured a modest margin.
In other two prominent seats of Sabarkantha and Chhota Udepur, two former Union ministers Shankarsinh Waghela and Naran Rathwa are trailing behind BJP nominees.
Former Union minister and Leader of Opposition in state Assembly, Shankarsinh Waghela (1,16,684) is trailing behind Dipsinh Rathod (1,46,648) of BJP who has secured a lead of 29,964 votes.
The two seats where neck-and-neck fight is on between BJP and Congress are Sabarkantha in North Gujarat, where Shankarsinh Vaghela of Congress is contesting, and in Anand, where Union Minister Bharat Solanki is contesting.
