Ahmedabad: As cyclone Nilofar approaches the Gujarat coast, the Centre reviewed the preparedness of central and state agencies to face any challenge arising out of the approaching cyclonic storm Nilofar along the Gujarat coast.
Cyclone Nilofar which developed over the Arabian Sea is likely to make landfall in Kutch district of Gujarat on Friday, packing winds of 100-110 kmph.
An estimated 30,000 people along coastal areas will be moved to safer places in Kutch district of Gujarat from today.
The evacuation will be carried out in tehsils of Abdasa (Naliya), Anjar, Bhachau, Bhuj, Gandhidham, Mandvi, Mundra and Nakhatrana.
The Indian Coast Guard (ICG) is preparing itself to deal with any eventuality arising out of very severe cyclonic strom 'Nilofar' which is expected to make a landfall near Naliya village in Kutch district.
The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) Tuesday said it has deployed rescue and rehabilitation teams at various locations as cyclone Nilofar approaches the Gujarat coast.
NDRF teams are being deployed in vulnerable areas to mitigate the impact of the cyclonic storm, an official release said.
Cyclone Nilofar would have mild affect in Rajasthan's border districts of Barmer, Jalore and Jodhpur on its arrival later this week, a MeT official said.
