Cyclonic circulation in Arabian Sea results in rain in Gujarat

region on Wednesday, weather officials said.

Light showers were registered in Surat, Bhavnagar,
Ahmedabad, Amreli, some parts of Junagadh and Anand, they
said, adding the weather remained cloudy in most parts of the
state.
Officials of the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD)
here, warned of moderate to heavy rain or thundershowers at
many places in all districts of south Gujarat, Saurashtra, and
Kutch regions till tomorrow.

Light to moderate rain or thundershowers would occur at
isolated places in all districts of north Gujarat region, they
said.

"Due to well marked low pressure area over northeast
Arabian sea, squally weather would prevail along Gujarat
coast," IMD director in Ahmedabad, Kamaljeet Ray said.

"Heavy to very heavy rain or thundershowers would occur
at isolated places over south Gujarat and Saurashtra region
during the next 24 hours," she added.

According to IMD officials, all ports have been asked to
hoist a warning signal and fishermen have been asked to stay
away from the sea for the next 24 hours.

"The sea would remain rough with strong waves from
north-easterly direction and visibility could become poor due
to the thundershowers in the next 24 hours," they said.
"Wind could blow with speed of 45-55 kmph from
north-easterly direction and may temporarily reach 65 kmph,"
they added.
