Dahod: A criminal case for murder has been filed against former BJP MLA Mahesh Bhuriya and his security guard in connection with an incident in Jhalod taluka last
year where an alleged robber had been killed, police said on Monday.
The FIR was registered at Limdi police station on the basis of complaint filed Mathur Sangadiya, whose son Raman was killed in the incident.
Sangadiya had approached Gujarat High Court, alleging that his son was murdered by Bhuriya and his men; he had not been shot in self-defence when he was committing a robbery -- as claimed by the former MLA.
High Court then directed the police to register FIR.
According to Bhuriya, on February 2, 2010, he stopped his car at Vangiwad village on the Jhalod-Dahod road after hearing the cries for help from victims of an ongoing robbery.
Robbers fired at him too, Bhuriya said, claiming that he and his guard fired in retaliation, killing Raman Sangadiya on the spot, while other robbers escaped.
But Raman`s father had said in his High Court petition that Raman and two others were riding in Bhuriya`s car, and they were shot at following some dispute over money.
