Five killed in road mishap in Anand

Five persons including a woman were killed and 10 others injured when a truck rammed into a stationary state transport bus from the rear on the Ahmedabad-Vadodara Express highway, police said Tuesday.

The incident took place late last night near Vantvadi
village of Mehemdabad taluka in Kheda district, they said.

According to police, the state transport bus on its way
to Dharmpur in Valsad had developed some technical problem
following which the driver had parked it in the service
lane on the Expressway.

A speeding truck coming from behind dashed into the
bus killing four persons on the spot, while the truck driver
died during treatment in the hospital, police said.

Out of the 10 injured three have been shifted to
Ahmedabad civil hospital, while seven others are under
treatment at Nadiad civil hospital, they added.

The deceased have been identified as Bhupat Devipujak
(39), Kalaram Solanki (60), Dipak Shah (21) and Anandi Patil
(34). The truck driver has not been identified yet, police
said.
