Fmr Gujarat MoS Home Zadafia appears before SIT

Former Gujarat minister of state for home Gordhan Zadafia, on Friday appeared before the Special Investigation Team (SIT), for interrogation.

Ahmedabad: Gujarat Minister of State for
Home during the 2002 post-Godhra riots, Gordhan Zadafia, was
today interrogated for over seven hours by the Supreme Court
appointed special investigation team (SIT).

Zadafia arrived around 12 noon at the SIT office in Block
11 of the old secretariat campus in Gandhinagar, along with
some of his supporters.

His interrogation ended at about 19.15 hours. After
coming out of the SIT office, he said that the agency wanted
some information which he provided.

When asked if he could be called again, Zadafia said that
it all depended on the SIT.

Zadafia, who has been questioned four times earlier by
the SIT in connection with the 2002 riots, was summoned again
after the Supreme Court asked SIT to probe in detail the
former minister`s role in the incident.

The Apex court had also asked SIT to probe the role of
two others - retired IPS officer M K Tandon and P B Gondia, IG
CID crime.

The former minister in the Narendra Modi government
during the 2002 riots, has now parted ways with the BJP and
floated his own party Mahagujarat Janta Party (MJP).

His name also figures in the complaint filed by Zakia
Jaffery, wife of former Congress MP Eshan Jaffery, who was
among the 69 killed in the Gulburg society riot case of
post-Godhra riots.

Zadafia has also been summoned by the Nanavati
Commission, probing the 2002 riot cases.
