Former finance minister of Gujarat Dinesh Shah passes away

Former Finance Minister of Gujarat and veteran Congress leader Dinesh Shah died of heart attack at a hospital.

Ahmedabad: Former Finance Minister of Gujarat and veteran Congress leader Dinesh Shah died of heart attack at a hospital here on Sunday.

Shah, 72, is survived by his wife and a daughter.

Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi condoling Shah`s demise said that he was a dedicated social worker with deep knowledge of the problems of people in Gujarat. He said that with Shah`s death the state has lost a veteran social worker.
Congress president Siddharth Patel also expressed grief over the demise of Shah and said that state has lost an active Gandhian.

The former minister was born in Jambusar taluka of Bharuch district where he completed his schooling before moving on to Mumbai university for his Masters in Art degree where he got a gold medal.

Before joining politics, Shah had worked as a lecturer in Economics at a city college and also practised law.
He served as Finance and Planning minister in Babubhai Patel government from 1973-1980.
