`Godmother`s` son acquitted in murder case

In a setback to the prosecution, a district court on Wednesday acquitted Karan Jadeja, son of late Santokben Jadeja, popularly known as godmother, of murdering his sister-in-law for want of evidence.

prosecution, a district court on Wednesday acquitted Karan Jadeja,
son of late Santokben Jadeja, popularly known as godmother, of
murdering his sister-in-law for want of evidence.

Rekha Jadeja, daughter-in-law of former Janta Dal MLA
Santokben Jadeja, was shot dead in May 2006 and Karan Jadeja
was arrested in this connection from Mumbai for his alleged
role in the murder.

Rekha was killed owing to a family dispute. Her
husband and elder brother of Karan, Kandhal Jadeja is also
facing charges of extortion and murder of BJP councillor Keshu
Odedara.

Santokben, known as godmother for heading an
underworld enterprise, was a Janta Dal MLA during Chimanbhai
Patel government in Gujrat in 1990-95. She died in March
this year.
