Ahmedabad: In a big relief to social activist Teesta Setalvad, the Gujarat High Court on Friday stayed her arrest in connection with the Gulbarga Society embezzlement case till April 4.
According to reports, High Court also issued notices to the Ahmedabad Crime Branch on the anticipatory bail application moved by Teesta and the three others named in the case.
The High Court had posted the matter for next hearing on April 4.
A former resident of Gulberg Society had lodged an FIR against Teesta, her husband Anand, Tanvir Jafri, son of ex-Congress MP Ahsan Jafri, and two others.
According to the complainant, Teesta and other accused allegedly embezzled funds they generated by claiming that Gulberg Society will be converted into a “museum of resistance.”
However, according to complainant, after collecting funds for more than Rs 1.5 crore the “museum” was never built.
