Ahmedabad: The sessions court here on Wednesday adjourned to February 7 the hearing on anticipatory bail application of Tanvir Jafri, son of Zakia Jafri, in the criminal case lodged against him, activist Teesta Setalvad and her husband Javed Anand and others.
The special public prosecutor today sought time, which sessions judge H C Vora granted.      Feroz Saeedkhan Pathan, former resident of the Gulbarg Society where 68 persons were killed in the 2002 riots, has lodged a complaint with the Detection of Crime Branch (DCB) against five people including Setalvad and Tanvir.      He alleges that they misused photographs and video footage of Gulbarg Society carnage and uploaded them on two websites of the Citizen for Justice and Peace (CJP) and the Sabrang Trust, both run by Teesta Setalvad and Javed Anand. As per the complainant, the accused collected several crores of rupees without the consent of Gulbarg Society residents, ostensibly to help riot victims, and out of the these funds, Rs 1.51 crore were used for "personal" purposes.      Setalvad and Anand were earlier this month granted anticipatory bail. Tanvir`s mother Zakia had lodged a complaint against Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi and others for their alleged involvement in the 2002 riots. Last month the metropolitan court here upheld the clean chit given to Modi and others by the Special Investigation Team.
