Ahmedabad: Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra
Modi on Wednesday said that US President Barak Obama is praised when
he speaks and writes in Hindi, but when he (Modi) says he
would write a letter in Italian on the price rise issue, he
gets brickbats.
Modi said this during a speech at a garib kalyan mela at
Visnagar in Mehsana district in North Gujarat.
"When Barack Obama writes or speaks in Hindi, he gets
showered with praises from all but when I say I will write in
Italian on the price rise issue, I get brickbats," Modi said.
"I will write in any language in order to make them
(Centre) understand my concern for price rise, under which
poor people are reeling," the Chief Minister said.
Earlier, taking a dig at Congress Chief Sonia Gandhi in a
speech, Modi had said that he would write a letter in Italian
to Centre to divert their attention to price rise. The
statement apparently irked Congress leaders who termed Modi as
someone who has lost his mental balance.
In his speech Modi balmed Centre for food inflation.
