Ahmedabad: Former Gujarat IPS officer continues to be missing on Saturday even as the Gujarat police are making all possible efforts to trace him.

Pandey is the main accused in the 2004 Ishrat Jahan fake encounter killing case in which a local court had also declared him an absconder.

After the sudden disappearance of Pandey, CBI asked Gujarat police to help them trace him.
The Gujarat DGP then sent a letter to all district Superintendents of Police and Police Commissioners to continue to look for the missing top cop.

Pandey’s name had surfaced in the chargesheet of Ishrat Jahan encounter killing case for providing "so-called crucial intelligence inputs" to fellow policemen that Ishrat and three others were LeT operatives and were on a mission to assassinate Chief Minister Narendra Modi.

He went absconding in April last year and was declared as a “proclaimed absconder”.
He appeared on a stretcher for July 29 court hearing after complaining of chest pains and was admitted in hospital.

However, after his applications seeking exemption from the court appearance and plea for bail were rejected by the CBI court, Pandey went missing again.

On Thursday last, Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate of the CBI court had issued a non-bailable warrant for Pandey`s arrest and the high court had also rejected his petition challenging the CBI court`s ruling of denying him anticipatory bail.
