Keshubhai launches new political party, targets Modi

Ahmedabad: Former Chief Minister Keshubhai Patel on Monday launched a new political outfit 'Gujarat Parivartan Party' ahead of the assembly elections, marking a decisive phase in his campaign against his bete noire and successor Narendra Modi.

Announcing the launch of the party that could signal a realignment of anti-Modi forces, 83-year-old Patel, a known baiter of the BJP strongman, said his party GPP would contest all the 182 seats in Gujarat assembly elections due to be held by the end of this year.

"Our party will bring about a change in the present political scenario of the state," said Patel, who resigned from BJP last Saturday in the wake of differences with Chief Minister Narendra Modi.

Patel accused Modi of compromising with the honour and integrity of the state and declared that his party would strive to restore it.

Patel, who belongs to the numerically important Patel community, has been named as founder chairman of the new party.

The former chief minister had helped bring the BJP to power in Gujarat for the first time in 1995.

Patel also announced that Maha Gujarat Janta Party formed by former Minister of State for Home Gordhan Zadafia, another Modi baiter, would soon merge with the new party.

Zadafia said that many workers and even leaders from the BJP and Congress were likely to join the GPP.

The office bearers of GPP would be appointed later, he said.

To a question on RSS support to him, Patel said that RSS was a non-political organisation and never declared its support to any political party.

"Our party would follow the ideals of Mahatma Gandhi, Ravishankar Maharaj, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel and Indulal Yagnik," he observed.

With respect to Human Development Index (HDI), Gujarat`s story is devastating. The HDI for Gujarat, in 2008, was 0.527 and it ranked 10 {+t} {+h} among major states. Kerala stood first (HDI: 0.790), Himachal Pradesh scored 0.652, Punjab 0.605, Maharashtra 0.572 and Haryana 0.552. With respect to three HDI components - income, health and education - Gujarat does not present a shining story. In this respect, states like Kerala took the lead in every sector, while Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Haryana, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu and West Bengal did better than Gujarat.

How can Modi and his followers could forget that there is no no development in rural and tribal areas of Gujarat? Modi has hired PR agencies to project himself as man of development and one who can become the PM but the reality on grass root is totally different. Modi has allowed industrialist to loot Gujarat and if he becomes PM, he will let entire world to loot India...

People of Gujarath knew the time of the patry formation and person hidden wishes and agenda. Because he has been ignored and not giving him CM gadi started his own party that too at the junction of election around the corner. Would he be think that his party will come to power either independently or join with non-BJP parties taking Modi in forthcoming election? Whatever blot attached to Modi his clean and good governance that propelled state to surpass nation in various sector when it comes to achievement during discouraging economic situation. Certainly this time also he brings party to power as he did in previous occasion with little extra efforts needs to be expect from him this time due to more opposition parties want dethrone him from CM gadi. Basically Gujarathis are business community and able to assess the global economy and its impact on national economy and how he managed the situation without leaving state to under hard time of economy.

Keshubhai it is too late for you to give a birth to a new party .Your are too old and better to retire rather than working with deals with Congress Party just to create problem for BJP. No person will like to waste his votere with dignity unless you want to destroy BJP and your little remaining honour!!!
