MeT predicts heavy rains in Gujarat in next three days

 Gujarat will witness heavy to very heavy rains in various places across the state during the next three days, said a warning issued by the Meteorological Centre here on Sunday.

Ahmedabad: Gujarat will witness heavy to very heavy rains in various places across the state during the next three days, said a warning issued by the Meteorological Centre here on Sunday.

"Heavy-to-very heavy rains with isolated extremely heavy rains would occur at a few places over Gujarat state and in Diu, Daman, Dadra Nagar Haveli," said the warning issued for next three days by the Meteorological Centre, Ahmedabad today.

However, the intensity of rains will weaken after the three days as the rain fall will occur only at isolated places over North Gujarat and Kutch region on fourth day, said the Meteorological centre.

The state has been witnessing moderate to heavy rains in various places, especially in South Gujarat and Saurashtra region, for last two days after a long dry spell of around a month.

Ahmedabad district has recorded a total of 35.8 mm rainfall today, said a release of Meteorological Centre.

While neighbouring Gandhinagar district has recorded 33 mm rain fall today, it added.

In South Gujarat, Surat (17.8 mm) and Valsad (32.0 mm) have also witnesses a good spell of thunder showers and heavy rain fall, it said.

Bhavnagar and Rajkot in Saurashtra have also recorded 22.7 mm and 36.1 mm of rain fall today, it added.

In Ahmedabad, rains started since this morning and a light drizzle continued through out the day.
