Rajkot teacher gets Life Time Achievement National Award

Rajkot: Ayaazkhan Babi, Rajkot-based
veteran teacher got the national award of "Life Time
Achievement" (Guruvar-09) for spending her life in teaching.

The prestigious national award in the field of
education is given by Varkey James Foundation to honour the
services of few individuals/Indians in teaching line and Babi
was given the award by Union HRD Minister Kapil Sibbal for
Western region.

The Foundation has started to give the award from this
year for four categories in which Babi was honoured with Life
Time Achievement Award in which he was given a memento and
rupees ten lakh.

Nearly 1.28 lakh teachers were nominated across the
country in which 48 teachers, twelve each from four zones for
four categories, were shortlisted by the five-member committee
in which 16 teachers four each from four zones were given the
award while remaining 32 were given certificate and rupees
1.25 lakh.

The other three categories were-Outstanding Teacher
for Children with special need, Outstanding young Teacher of
India and Outstanding Teacher of India.

Bijal Damani of the city-based SN Kansagara School was
also honoured for Outstanding Teacher of India.

Babi who spent 45 years in teaching line is now
working as a Director of Sanjayraj Education Zone.
