Ahmedabad: People from all walks of life
organised candle light processions, rallies and fasts across
Gujarat today in support of veteran social activist Anna
Hazare`s fast-unto-death in New Delhi for the Lokpal Bill.
Donning Gandhian caps, youths took out a candle light
procession in Vastrapur locality here, while a group of
lawyers gathered near Town Hall demanding that corruption
should be rooted out from the country.
Noted danseuse Mallika Sarabhai here has also extended
support to Hazare`s demand.
"I think for the first time people in Gujarat are giving
their voice to a movement that was started in New Delhi. Its
good we are supporting it," Sarabhai said.
A signature campaign was organised in Vadodara in support
of Hazare`s demand.
Chancellor of M S University Mrunalini Devi, signed the
letter prepared to support demand for a comprehensive
anti-corruption Lokpal Bill.
Former Union Health Minister Vallabh Kathiria from Rajkot,
has supported Anna Hazare in his fight against corruption.
"People of the country should support Anna Hazare to make
the nation free of corruption," Kathiria said.
"The Union government should pass the Lokpal Bill," he
said. Members of Bharat Nav Nirman Sena organised a symbolic
day-long fast in Rajkot in support of Hazare`s demands.
