RSS supremo Bhagwat, Modi release Gandhi`s book `Hind Swaraj`

Gujarat CM Narendra Modi said his government is trying to implement the principles propounded by Mahatma Gandhi as part of its good governance initiative.

Ahmedabad: Gujarat Chief Minister
Narendra Modi on Monday said his government is trying to implement
the principles propounded by Mahatma Gandhi as part of its
good governance initiative.

"Gandhi`s ideology is important even in this age,"
Modi, who along with RSS supremo Mohan Bhagwat today released
Mahatma Gandhi`s book `Hind Swaraj` in three languages, said
here.
"The Centre should have come forward to re-publish
such a rare book of Mahatma Gandhi which was written in 1909,
almost 100 years before," the BJP leader said.
The book is published by Centre of Policy Studies
which is connected with RSS.

"In this book written in Gujarati language by Mahatma
Gandhi when he was 40, he gives a sense of pride to the people
of India for their culture," J K Bajaj of Centre of Policy
Studies, said.

"We have released three books, one is in original
Gujarati writing of Mahatma Gandhi, without a change of word,
the second is its translation in Hindi and third one is its
English translation done by Gandhiji himself," Mohan Bhagwat
said adding that this is the only book which Gandhi has
translated himself in English.

"This is the book that gives tremendous
self-confidence to Indians as Mahatma had said here that Hindu
culture is supreme. There is no culture which can be compared
with that of Hindus, Rome has bit the dust, Greece is just
existing in name," he said.

Leaders of that time like Swami Vivekananda and
Mahatma Gandhi had given lot of confidence to the people of
India by these statements which are relevant in this age also,
he added.

Taking a dig at "pseudo-followers"of Mahatma Gandhi,
Bhagwat said, "the important thing is to become like Gandhiji
and not be a part of any `ism`,".
