Ahmedabad: Nephew of BJP MP from Junagadh
Dinu Solanki has been named as the key accused in the murder
of RTI activist Amit Jethva here over four months ago.

Besides Solanki`s nephew, Pratap alias Shiva Solanki,
Bahadursinh Vadher, a police constable from Junagadh, figures
in the chargesheet filed against five accused early this week
in a local court by city Crime Branch.

Other accused are Sanjay Chauhan, Pancha Shiva and
Udaji Thakor.

Jethva was shot dead outside the Gujarat High
Court in July. His father Bhikabhai has been alleging that
Dinu Solanki was behind the murder of his son and had
demanded investigation by CBI.

However, the police maintained that there was no link
between Jethva`s murder and the BJP lawmaker who has rubbished
the charge. The police have not recorded Dinu Solanki`s
statement till now.

Jethva was killed a few days after he filed a public
interest litigation (PIL) against illegal mining in the
protected Gir sanctuary in Junagadh district. He had made
Dinu Solanki as one of the respondents.

According to the chargesheet, Vadher and Shiva Solanki
conspired to eliminate Jethva because he was causing damage to
their mining business by using the RTI route to extract
information and then filing complaints against them.
