Surat/Ahmedabad: With investigation underway against the self-styled godman Asaram, police on Tuesday raided his Surat ashram in search of the spiritual guru`s son Narayan Sai.

Sai`s whereabouts are not known after complaints of sexual assault were filed against the father-son duo by two sisters.

Meanwhile, a case has been registered in Chandkheda police station in Ahmedabad against Asaram on the complaint that was transferred from Surat on the allegations of the elder sister that she was repeatedly sexually abused at his ashram in Motera in Gujarat.

"We have formed six teams to search for Sai," Surat Police Commissioner Rakesh Asthana said without giving any further details.

A lookout notice was issued yesterday against Sai after fresh sexual abuse complaints were lodged against the father-son duo by two sisters.

A police team, which has been formed by Ahmedabad Police Commissioner Shivanand Jha to probe the sexual assault case against Asaram, has reached Surat to collect vital clues.

"The team reached Surat last evening to collect clues related to the sexual assault case lodged against Asaram," Joint Commissioner of Police (Sector-I) JK Bhatt said, adding that it will also record the statement of victim.

The elder sister in her complaint accused Asaram of repeated sexual assault between 1997 and 2006 during the time she had been living in his ashram on the outskirts of Ahmedabad city.

The younger sister filed a complaint against Asaram`s son, accusing him of repeated sexual assault between 2002 and 2005 when she was living in their Surat ashram.

The complaint against Sai was registered at Jehangirpura police station in Surat, while the one against his father Asaram was transferred to Chandkheda police station in Ahmedabad as the alleged incident took place there.

Asaram, 72, was arrested in August on charges of sexually assaulting a minor girl and has been in prison in Jodhpur since then.

The police have registered two complaints - one against Asaram and another against Sai - of rape, sexual assault, illegal confinement and other charges.
