The special court on Monday issued notice to CBI, probing the 2005 Sohrabuddin Sheikh fake encounter case, after one of the accused NK Amin applied for bail on Monday.

Ahmedabad: The special court on Monday issued
notice to CBI, probing the 2005 Sohrabuddin Sheikh fake
encounter case, after one of the accused NK Amin applied for
bail on Monday.

The bail application of suspended ACP NK Amin, was
filed before CBI judge Jyotsna Yagnik who after issuing notice
to the investigating agency, scheduled hearing for April 18.

Amin`s lawyer Jagdish Ramani said that since the case
was taken over by the CBI in January last year, circumstances
have changed with regard to the case.

He said that his client was in jail since January 2008
after the Gujarat High Court cancelled his bail, and has been
in jail for long time and hence deserves to be let out on
bail.

Amin, had in January back-tracked from becoming an
approver in the case, by withdrawing his application that he
had filed in the CBI court here.

In his application, Amin had said that he wanted to
withdraw from becoming an approver and seeking pardon only at
the present stage and would have the right to file similar
application in future.

Suspended cop Amin, was termed as a key witness by the
CBI in their various submissions in the High Court and the
Supreme Court in the fake encounter case.

Amin`s application for becoming an approver had comes
just a day after CBI arrested former Gujarat minister of state
for home Amit Shah on July 26 last year.
