Two inmates escape from Dahod sub jail

Two inmates lodged in a sub-jail in Dahod district of Gujarat escaped from the prison premises on Monday.

Dahod: Two inmates lodged in a sub-jail in Dahod district of Gujarat escaped from the prison premises on Monday, police said.

"The duo-- Govardhan Bhabhor and Ramesh Parmar were found to be missing from sub-jail of Devgadh Bariya taluka during the counting of prisoners this morning," they said.

The count is carried on a routine basis on change of guard at the jail premises, police said. Bhabhor and Parmar are history sheeters who were arrested in connection with incidents of loot, they added.

Police is still investigating how the duo managed to slip out from the jail premises, sources said. Bhabhor is the only accused arrested by police for attempting to loot government treasury in Limbdikheda few months ago, they said.

He has managed to flee from jail at least three times in last one year. Also, around 46 bullets of 303 Rifle were found missing from police strong room after he first fled away from police custody in April, official sources said. Police has launched a manhunt to arrest the duo.
