11.18 lakh children given polio drops in Haryana

About 11.18 lakh children in the age group of 0-5 years were administered polio drops Sunday in seven districts of Haryana.

Chandigarh: About 11.18 lakh children in the
age group of 0-5 years were administered polio drops Sunday in
seven districts of Haryana.

The drops to the children were administered at
Faridabad, Gurgaon, Mewat, Palwal, Karnal, Panipat and
Sonipat.

A spokesman of the State Health Department said today
was the first day of the three-day round of Pulse Polio
2009-10.

He said the campaign would continue for two more days by
way of house-to-house coverage of those children who were not
administered polio drops at the booths.

In all, 6,455 booths were set up in the seven districts
which were manned by about 25,820 officials of Health
Department, volunteers and anganwari workers. About 1,300
officers and officials supervised the activity.

A total of 18 lakh children would be covered during the
three-day campaign.

He said special attention was being paid to high risk
areas like slums, isolated hutments, brick kilns, construction
sites and migratory population.
