Chandigarh: Seven persons were killed when their car collided head-on with a truck near Brahmanwas village in Rohtak district, police said on Monday.
The victims were returning after attending a religious function past mid-night when the mishap occurred, Rohtak`s SP, Rajesh Duggal said over phone.
He said the driver of the truck had entered the one-way road from the wrong side and collided with the car near a slight curve on the Rohtak-Gohana road.
"While five died at the accident spot, two of them succumbed later," he said.
Duggal said that all those who died were occupants of the ill-fated car and most of them were women and children.
A 5-year-old girl had a narrow escape in the accident and was admitted to a hospital with injuries, he said, adding a case had been registered against the truck driver.
