Anti-corruption crusader Anna Hazare was discharged on Thursday from a private hospital after doctors deemed him fit for release.

Gurgaon: Anti-corruption crusader Anna Hazare
was discharged on Thursday from a private hospital here after
doctors deemed him fit for release following a five-day stay.

The 74-year-old activist was admitted at the Medanta
Medcity Hospital here after he complained of breathlessness
and high-blood pressure on January 28 afternoon.

A team of doctors headed by cardiologist Dr Naresh Trehan
and Dr RR Kasliwal, the head of internal medicine, had attended on him.

"He (Hazare) was discharged this morning after eight. He
responded well to the treatment. He came to us with complains
of severe cough, chest congestion, swelling and
breathlessness," Dr Kasliwal said.

Hazare underwent certain medical tests, including
echo-cardiogram, ultrasound, urine, among others. Doctors said
that his medical reports were normal.

He was on soft diet during his five-day stay at the
hospital.

"Last night, a team of doctors decided that he is fit to
be discharged. There were no surprises as far as tests were
concerned. He was cured of the ailment with which he reported
to the hospital," Medical Superintendent of Medanta
Medcity, Dr AK Dubey said.

Hazare had undergone a check-up at the same hospital last
August soon after he had ended his 12-day fast on the Lokpal
issue.
