Rohtak: In a suspected case of dishonour
killing, a teenage girl was strangulated to death allegedly by
her brother who also tried to cremate the body in a
clandestine manner.

Deepak allegedly strangulated his 17-year-old sister
Rajani with her dupatta in the presence of relatives last
night at their Janta Colony residence here, SP B Satheesh
Balan said.

Police suspect it could be a case of dishonour killing, as
the family was opposed to the victim`s alleged affair with a
local boy.

The accused was nabbed when he was enroute to his native
village Mokhra to cremate the body.

Police recovered Rajani`s body from the car which her
brother was driving, the SP said, adding that Deepak had
confessed to his crime.

The police has registered a case against the victim`s
brother and three of her relatives under various sections of
the IPC.

"All the accused have been arrested and Deepak during the
police investigation confessed to have killed his sister by
strangling her with a duppatta in the presence of other family
members," Balan said.
