Centre to decide on compensation for flood-affected in Haryana

The Centre will soon decide on compensation to flood-affected farmers in Haryana, Agriculture Commissioner in Union Agriculture Ministry Gurbhajan Singh said today.

said today.

Singh, who was interacting with farmers during his visit
to flood-hit areas of Nakoda village in Sirsa district, said
the central government was serious in providing compensation
to farmers affected by the flood and the visit of the team of
Union Agriculture Department was a step towards this
direction.

The central government would soon finalize the decision
on compensation, Singh added.

He said the Centre was seriously considering
implementation of water recharging scheme of Ghaggar river to
save the people from the havoc of floods caused by the river.

Under the scheme, the flow of water would also be
recharged at the same place. The scheme would show wide scale
impact in the near future and people would be saved from flood
fury. He assured the farmers that they would be provided all
possible help by the Union Agriculture Ministry.
