CM Hooda reaffirms resolve for separate HC for Haryana

Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda on Tuesday reaffirmed his resolve to continue to strive for getting the state its own High Court in this union territory.

Chandigarh: Haryana Chief Minister
Bhupinder Singh Hooda on Tuesday reaffirmed his resolve to continue
to strive for getting the state its own High Court in this
union territory.

"The Chief Justice of India had recently agreed in
principle for Haryana to have its separate High Court," Hooda
said while concluding discussion in the ongoing session of the
state Assembly on the Governor`s address.
With the Opposition members being suspended for the
remainder of the budget session by the House yesterday for
their unruly behaviour, the chief minister said that he would
like to take up some of the important issues that opposition
had been raising and one such issue was of a separate High
Court for Haryana.

On the issue of Chandigarh, he reiterated that the
union territory belonged to Haryana in the same manner as it
belonged to Punjab.

He reminded that in a recent meeting of Chief
Ministers in New Delhi recently, the Punjab Chief Minister had
raised the issue saying his state did not have its own
capital.

Hooda said that his reply was that in case they needed
a separate capital, they should make it outside Chandigarh.

Referring to the issue of implementation of Punjabi as
second language in Haryana, Hooda said that for the first time
his government had issued a notification to promote Punjabi
language.
On the issue of setting up of a separate Shiromani
Gurudwara Parbandhak Committee in Haryana, he said the report
of the Chatha Committee was under consideration and any
decision, which would be in consonance with the aspiration of
the Sikhs of Haryana, would be taken.
