Unchahar Express train between Allahabad and Chandigarh was delayed by over two hours, while Lucknow- Chandigarh Express was running behind schedule by more than four hours.

According to MeT department, barring Amritsar where the minimum temperature had yesterday dropped to minus one degree Celsius, mercury at most other places today plummeted a few notches below normal level.

The minimum temperature at Amritsar rose slightly since yesterday to settle at 2.9 degrees Celsius, but even then it was two notches below normal.

Ludhiana's low settled at 3.9 degrees Celsius, four notches below normal, while Patiala recorded a minimum temperature at 4.5 degrees Celsius, down two degrees.

Narnaul in Haryana recorded a minimum temperature at 1.5 degrees Celsius, which was five notches below normal.

Hisar too recorded bone-chilling low at 2.1 degrees Celsius, which was five degrees below normal.

Karnal's low was recorded at 2.4 degrees Celsius, six degrees below normal, while Bhiwani and Ambala were equally cold recording respective below normal minimums at 3.8 and 5.4 degrees Celsius.

Chandigarh's low settled at 6.2 degrees Celsius. The residents here woke up to a chilly morning with icy cold winds sweeping the city.

However, as the sky was clear here today the flights from here to various destinations were running as per schedule.
