Chandigarh: In a state-wide drive against
female foeticide, a total of 18 doctors and five paramedical
workers have been charged with carrying out pre-natal sex
determination tests on patients, an official said here Wednesday.
During the ongoing raids at various ultrasound
clinics, authorities sealed as many as 125 ultrasound machines
for alleged violation of provisions under Pre-Natal Diagnostic Technique (PNDT) Act, he said.
Registration of 262 ultrasound centres were also
cancelled for violation of various provisions of the Act.
Following the raids, 53 prosecution complaints were
filed in the courts against violators of the Act, he said.
