Ambala: Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda today claimed Congress will win both the Adampur and Ratia byelections, which are going to polls on November 30.

"The candidates of INLD and HJC-BJP alliance will be rejected in the byelections and the people of both the constituencies will vote for development works done by the state government," he told reporters here on the sidelines of a marriage reception of Kartikeye, son of local Congress MLA and former minister Venod Sharma.

Several MLAs of Congress from the state and senior leader of BJP Murli Manohar Joshi were among others present on at the reception function.

Replying to a question, he said that corruption was not an issue in the byelections as the people were aware that the UPA government had already taken necessary steps to curb the menace.

Gian Chand Odh of the INLD represented Ratia in the state assembly and his death in September necessitated the bypolls. Adampur seat fell vacant last month after resignation of Haryana Janhit Congress President Kuldeep Bishnoi, who got elected to the Lok Sabha from Hisar.
