Minor girl falls in borewell in Manesar; rescue efforts on Gurgaon: A four-year-old girl fell into a borewell in Kho village near Manesar while playing last night, leading to frantic efforts to rescue her from the 70-feet-deep borewell on Thursday.

"Mahi was celebrating her fourth birthday and was playing with children outside the home near the borewell when she suddenly fell into it," her father Neeraj said, adding that the incident took place at 11 PM last night.

Army and Rapid Metro personnel are drilling a parallel pit to the borewell where the child has fallen.

Nearby residents have also been asked to vacate their houses as a precautionary measure while the rescue operation continues.

Chief Medical Officer Praveen Garg said oxygen is being pumped in the borewell to help the child

A camera was lowered into the borewell to find out the condition of the child, but it did not provide any significant detail.

The child's father claimed that as soon as his daughter fell in the borewell, he called up the police but they arrived one-and-a-half hour late.

For two hours the child kept crying inside the borewell, asking for help but now she is not responding to any calls, he said.

Meanwhile, Gurgaon's district magistrate P C Meena has ordered a judicial enquiry to be carried out by Additional Deputy Commissioner to probe into the digging of an illegal borewell.

An FIR under various sections of IPC has been registered against local resident Rotash Tayal, who illegally dug the borewell.

We have seen such incidents being repeated. Last time it was the death of a boy called prince. Ask the authorities they wl give 1000 excuses! Ask the government it wl give 2000 excuses! Ask the child`s parents, they wl blame the police! If this country is not able to find a solution to this persistant problem, whats the point in buying aircrafts and submarines? Such open borewell pits are a grave threat to children, just pass a damm law to punish the local authorities and owners of the land and borewell with culpable homicide..

I just saw the news about Maahi. The girl’s father seems to be mad at the recue team because he thinks they are not doing their job fast enough. But what was the little girl doing outside of the house almost till mid night? Why its necessary to celebrate a little child’s birthday till so late at night? I’m sure that the rescue team is doing their best job to save her. I pray that she is alright.

Planning to land on Moon ? First get rid of these abandoned borewells? Put the culprits behind bars for life.

It shows how we are lazy Indians A 70 feet unused borewell not covered with anything I think it is 5 or 6 incidents in recent years Local Government should charge borewell owner of all these rescue expenses Why we should always shout for local municipalities for small such things why we con’t Are we so lazy or (don’t have time) to cover a small stone on open unused borewell hole??
