Chandigarh: Health services were partially hit in Haryana as government doctors went on a two-day mass casual leave from Tuesday to press for a pay-related demand.

The doctors want Non-Practising Allowance (NPA) to be made part of basic pay, President of the Haryana Civil Medical Services Association, Dr Rajesh Kumar Khyalia said.

He claimed that work was affected in Primary Health Centres, Community Health Centres and General Hospitals across the state.

"Though we attended to emergency services, doctors stayed away from the OPDs, and other services remained paralysed at most places," Khyalia claimed.

However, state Health Minister Rao Narinder Singh rejected his claim saying health services were normal at most places.

He said there was no justification of the strike as the government was considering their demand.
