Chandigarh: The Haryana Government Wednesday
notified its new stage carriage scheme under which permits
would be given to cooperative transport societies and
individuals to provide efficient and effective transport.
Under the new scheme, the road transport services
would be provided by the state transport undertaking--Haryana
Roadways--on all the inter-state routes and mostly between all
district headquarters, an official spokesman said here.
He said that in all, about 2,700 permits would be
given to either individuals or transport cooperative societies
under the new scheme.
The spokesman said the main objective of the new scheme
was to provide efficient, safe, reliable, economical and
convenient transport services to the people of the state.
It would also provide employment to the unemployed
youth, he said.
