Haryana discoms recover Rs 100 cr from defaulters

Under a campaign to recover defaulting amount, the Haryana Discoms have recovered Rs 100 crore from the defaulters during the last two weeks.

Chandigarh: Under a campaign to recover defaulting amount, the Haryana Discoms (Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam and Uttar Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam) have recovered Rs 100 crore from the defaulters during the last two weeks.

The campaign was launched on October 13 last.

A sum of over Rs 65 crore from urban area consumers and about Rs 35 crore from rural area consumers have been recovered in the state by the special teams constituted for the purpose, a spokesman said here today.

He said that under the campaign, the directors and chief engineers of the Nigam have been appointed as nodal officers for each circle for monitoring recovery.

These officers have been assigned with the task of ensuring prompt rectification of incorrect bills and other consumer related issues.

The Nigam has fixed responsibility of the sub-divisional officers concerned to recover the defaulting amount between Rs 20,000 and Rs 50,000.

The executive engineers will be responsible for recovering from Rs 50,001 to Rs 1,00,000 and the superintending engineers in recovery of Rs 1,00,000 and above.

Discoms have fixed monthly targets of revenue recovery for the officers, the spokesman said.
