Chandigarh: Haryana government on Tuesday
gave employment letters to 129 family members of land owners
whose land was acquired for setting up a power project at
Khedar in Hisar in 1998.
Appointment letters were handed over to eligible
persons on the basis of their educational qualifications for
employment in power utilities in a function organized here.

Speaking on the occasion, Haryana Chief Minister
Bhupinder Singh Hooda announced one member of each family,
whose land would be acquired for power projects in the state
would be given employment in government sector.

The government had acquired land for the 1200 MW Rajiv
Gandhi Thermal Power project in 1998 and the state had in 2007
announced jobs in government departments to one member of each
family whose two or more acres of land was acquired.

The government faced many technical difficulties to
honour that announcement as some candidates had to be given
age and educational qualifications relaxations, he said.
The Chief Minister said the day is not far off when this
policy would also be followed at the national level. The
Haryana model of land acquisition policy was being followed by
various state governments including West Bengal, Orissa and
Uttar Pradesh, he added.
