Chandigarh: No poultry farm in Haryana should be located within 50-metre radius of a residential zone and 200 metre from a major water course, it was officially stated on Sunday.
All poultry farms have been directed to raise a green belt around, minimise waste and refrain from open burning or indiscriminate dumping of any dead bird, feathers and unused material.
These and other directions have been issued by the Haryana State Pollution Control Board under the Environment Protection Act 1986, based on the guidelines of the Central Pollution Control Board.
A spokesman of the Board said that under the directions, no poultry farm should be located within 50 metre of a residential zone, 200 metre from major water course, 1,000 metre from any major drinking water reservoir on catchment side, 100 metre from any drinking water source like wells and summer storage tanks, and 500 metre from nearby poultry, dairy or another livestock enterprises or industry.
Poultry farm sheds should not be located within 20 metre of farm boundary, 200 metre from public roads, 20 metre from other sheds on the same farm and 100 metre from any other dwelling on same property.
