Chandigarh: The Election Commission Wednesday ordered re-polling in 149 booths in seven districts in Haryana
where the first phase of Panchayat elections was held on June
The re-poll was ordered following complaints of violence,
printing errors in ballot papers and snatching and destruction
of EVMs, ballot boxes and other election material, Haryana
Election Commissioner Dharam Vir said.
The seven districts where re-voting in 149 stations will
take place tomorrow are Palwal, Mewat, Bhiwani, Jhajjar,
Kaithal, Faridabad and Sonipat, he said.
Three persons were killed as violence marred the first
phase of panchayat polls last Sunday which witnessed over 70
per cent turnout.
Both EVMs and ballot papers were used in the exercise
held amid tight security.
