Chandigarh: With just months to go before assembly elections in the state, the ruling Congress has suffered a major setback with Power Minister Capt Ajay Singh Yadav resigning from the cabinet.

As per reports, Yadav is upset with Hooda`s style of functioning as Chief Minister besides issues like regional discrimination in allotment of developmental projects in the state.

Yadav, MLA from Rewari near Gurgaon, is known to be an influential leader. His son Chiranjeev Rao is married to RJD leader Lalu Prasad Yadav`s sixth daughter Anuskha. Yadav had a running feud going with Hooda over Haryana`s land acquisition policy.

Matters took a turn for the worse after Yadav took up the cause of farmers in Rewari and demanded that they be paid more compensation. Days later, the farmers in Rewari clashed with police over the issue, leaving many injured.

Later Hooda held a meeting with farmers in Delhi to break the deadlock but Yadav was not invited. Media reports later claimed that Yadav was in support of a leadership change in Haryana. He had denied it then and called the misleading.
