Haryana sets up Rural Livelihoods Mission

Chandigarh: To enhance livelihood options
for the rural poor through social mobilisation, the state
government has set up the Haryana State Rural Livelihoods
Mission (HSRLM).

This decision was taken at a meeting held here under
Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda and attended by
Agriculture Minister Paramvir Singh among others, an official
release said here today.

The HSRLM would be implemented in the state in a
phased manner, Hooda said, adding that twelve intensive blocks
would be identified for implementation in the first year and
the whole state being covered in three phases.

It has been assigned a target to reach out to 31.59
lakh rural households, 8.58 lakh below poverty line households
in 6,124 gram panchayats of 119 blocks of the state, he said.
It would aim for continuous capacity building,
imparting requisite skills and creating linkages with
livelihood opportunities for the poor in the state.

It is envisaged to adopt a demand driven strategy and
provide professional support structures from the state to sub-
district level.
