Panipat: Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar on Tuesday said that special fund would be created at the district level for schemes and programmes for girls' welfare right from their childhood to education.
The schemes would aim at ensuring their education, marriage, construction of separate toilets and to eradicate malnutrition, Khattar said here addressing the inaugural session of two-day National Thematic Workshop on "Best Practices for Women and Child Development."
It has been organised as a part of 'Beti Bachao Beti Padhao' programme.
Expressing concern over the gender imbalance, Khattar said that this problem is confined not only to states but it is an issue of whole country.
He said that Haryana government is committed to ensure the empowerment of women including their education, security, health and hygiene.
The CM said that this workshop is being organised at a time when Prime Minister Narendra Modi is visiting Haryana to launch national programme 'Beti Bachao-Beti Padhao' at Panipat on January 22.
"Though, it was a matter of pride that he has chosen Haryana for the launch of this ambitious programme on the other hand it was a matter of concern as why he has selected the state.
"The low sex ratio in the state is a concern and a challenge for us but the visit of Prime Minister would inspire us to further improve the sex ratio as compared to other states," he said.
