HC reserves order on Rathore`s plea, hearings conclude

Punjab and Haryana HC reserved its order on SPS Rathore`s revision petition challenging his 18-month prison term in Ruchika molestation case as it concluded the day-to-day hearings on the former Haryana DGP`s plea.

Chandigarh: Punjab and Haryana High Court
today reserved its order on SPS Rathore`s revision petition
challenging his 18-month prison term in Ruchika molestation
case as it concluded the over month long day-to-day hearings
on the former Haryana DGP`s plea.

As the arguments, counter-arguments and rebuttals on
the petition concluded, Justice Jitendra Chauhan reserved his
order and told Rathore`s counsel wife Abha, the CBI and
Ruchika family`s counsel that they could submit their written
submissions if any by 4 pm tomorrow.

Concluding her arguments, Abha Rathore reiterated that
those who had enmity with the former state police chief had
got together to frame him.

Rathore`s petition was taken up for day-to-day hearing in
Justice Chauhan`s Court on July 2.

68-year-old Rathore has been lodged in the high-security
Burail jail here since May 25, serving an 18-month prison term
for molesting 14-year-old Ruchika Girhotra, his daughter`s
classmate, 20 years ago.

Ruchika, a budding tennis player, had committed suicide
three years after being molested by Rathore on August 12,
1990.
